Whitewater Potatoes grows 2000 acres of potatoes both on Lodge Farm and on land across Hampshire. It is led by Gavin Janaway with a farm team that plant, manage, harvest and store an impressive 40,000 tonnes of potatoes for making into crisps.
This is a highly specialised operation with specific varieties chosen that will grow and develop tubers of a high dry matter content so that the crisps enjoyed are bright and crunchy.
In 1988 Whitewater Potatoes purchased a farm in Scotland to produce their own potato seed tubers. This enables the farm to control the potato crop from seed to crisp.
At harvest the potatoes are stored in one tonne bins, placed into modern refrigerated cold stores.
